This first lunch and learn session of the three-part series will focus on what is means to manage catastrophe risk.  Speaker Brian Bastian and Kim Roberts, both meteorologists from JLT Re, will cover the fundamentals of natural catastrophes including where they occur, what companies do to mitigate that risk, the regulatory constraints and what can be accomplished with catastrophe models.

Understanding Catastrophe Models

This second lunch and learn session of the three-part series will focus on the ins and outs of catastrophe models including their history, use and caveats.  Speaker Mark Bove, meteorologist at Munich Re, will cover the fundamentals of catastrophe models including their history, their fit into the catastrophe risk management framework, their building blocks and their inherent uncertainties.

This final lunch and learn session of the three-part series unfolds the many applications of catastrophe models for managing catastrophe risk. Speakers Wendy Hayes (Cincinnati Re) and Julie Serakos (BMS Re US) discuss everything from CAT modeling usage for underwriting to portfolio optimization from the perspectives of both the primary insurance carrier and the reinsurer.
